Challenge / SportTeach:
Challenge Sport & Education provide us with a coach who not only makes PE session fun, engaging and active but also has the ability to manage each class, plan for their needs and support the teachers in taking the learning forward when they are not here. They have provided us with coaches who are able to deliver a wide range of different PE skills from , dance, through to gymnastic and athletics

We work as a partnership with Challenge Sport & Education, by working together we can achieve the best for the children and for our school teacher get upskilled as well. We have built this relationship up in the years we have been working with the company and have been very happy to continue to commit to this

Jane Grieves - PE Co-ordinator

Offley - North Herts

Our coach from Challenge consistently delivers high quality PE lessons and provides timely assessment information about the children he works with. His lessons are well-planned, energetic and inclusive and we have been particularly impressed by his ability to work with some of our SEN children who were unwilling to take part in PE lessons prior to his arrival, but who now take part fully and enjoy their physical activity.
Our Challenge coach is very much part of our staff team. Punctual and professional, he is more than just a coach: he helps out on school trips, takes on a coaching role with our sports teams and helps with the planning and delivery of many sporting events, such as our sports day. He is also a fantastic role model to our boys in what is primarily a female staff. We have had excellent feedback from our parents who report that their children thoroughly enjoy their PE lessons.

Challenge’s coaches are popular and professional. In a recent survey a significant number of children identified the sports coaches as the biggest recent improvement in our school, many commenting that PE is now fun! An OFSTED inspector recently observed a session taught by a Challenge coach and noted that not only was it a good skills session but also developed teamwork and had clear SMSC features by developing their cohesion as a group. The coaches have the respect of both the staff and pupils and liaise well with the school.

Challenge provide experienced coaches whoare reliable. Teachers do not need to plan these lessons as they are already planned which elevates work load for teachers. We enjoy working with Challenge because the company are organised and have forged good working relationships with the school. Queries are dealt with efficiently and quickly. The training had a good balance of learning, discussion and practical activities. We covered numerous PE skills while pausing to talk about how to differentiate, correct mistakes, praise and introduce healthy competition to the children.

The training session, which was ran by Doug and Ben, was a perfect balance of theory and practice. The entire staff were provided with a wide variety of: lesson ideas, assessment for learning opportunities and insightful tips for engaging, motivating and challenging all children. The session was an invaluable opportunity for staff to ask questions, gain specialist support and practice hands-on strategies to ensure the teaching of PE at The Mount Stewart Schools is on a journey towards OUTSTANDING.

I have been incredibly impressed with the professional service that Challenge have provided our school. The coaches are punctual, skilled and very popular with the children. They liaise effectively with the school staff to ensure that behaviour and progress is consistent. They accurately assess pupil progress and set challenging and interesting goals for all the pupils. Their clubs also run very well and offer great value for parents. I would thoroughly recommend Challenge to any school looking to give their pupils a great physical education led by professionally-trained experts.

Challenge have been professional and thorough in their approach to teaching the PE curriculum. The children have really enjoyed the lessons and have progressed quickly from skill-based lessons to match play in order to consolidate those skills. The multi-skills after school club continues to prove very popular and the children are offered a variety of activities which are improving their fitness levels in fun-packed sessions.

Mrs. Ridge (retired in 2018) - Headteacher

St Giles Primary School - South Mimms

The coaches are professional and well-organised. Their exceptional behaviour management and promotion of our schools' behaviour and PE policy across all age ranges ensure that lessons are active, inclusive and enjoyable. All coaches integrate themselves with the school norms and relate well to both pupils and members of staff. All coaches competently deliver all aspects of the PE curriculum, providing both challenge and support.

Mrs Beale - Headteacher

Kingsway - Watford

The teachers that attended the training spoke very positively about it. It has been good walking through the school whilst teachers are teaching their own PE lessons and seeing them thinking about the aspects of your training. I thoroughly enjoyed it too! I think it was a great starting point for our teachers - many who are newly qualified and some new to primary.
